It's Darkest Before Dawn
The insanity in Washington is sad and tragic, but it had to get this bad before some people would ever start to wake up. Congressional leaders being personally and physically threatened during the recent riots in Washington was a shock to the system that appears to have brought some clarity and sanity to the leadership in Washington and hopefully to the citizens of our nation. I never thought the republican leadership would ever break ranks with the peril of the president's power-grab and the absurdity of the ultra-right cultish ideology, but it’s starting to happen. In the course of therapy, situations often have to get to a crises point before denial is lifted, and letting go of denial is the first step in creating the right conditions for growth and healing to happen. They actually teach that in psychology graduate school. The current riots in Washington are reality therapy for the nation.
As a nation we have a choice of who we collectively want to be. We make that choice with our votes, in our relationships, in the conversations we have with each other, in which media we choose to follow. Your every thought and action adds in some small way to the identity of our nation, so be mindful of the ideas and organizations you support. I don't know if this is rock bottom yet, but we’ll see where everything goes from here. That's up to us as a country, and I feel grateful for the good people we have in our society, and for the many blessings we have here in America. Lets all continue to hold our great nation in prayer. It's darkest before dawn.
