The 3-Step Process to owning your Power
"Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens."
- Rumi
Many Americans are in shock today about our recent election results, and many Americans are overjoyed about Donald Trump being elected president of the United States. Whatever your feelings, this is an opportunity to know that you are the captain of your own destiny, you are the master of your own life.
The quality of your life is not dictated by any politician, leader or external circumstance; rather your life and your happiness is determined by not only how you respond to life events, but also by how you perceive and interpret these life events. Whether it is an election, a divorce or any loss or celebration, you choose how to perceive and interpret any life situation such as this election, and how you perceive the event either empowers you to live life fully or it has you live in fear.
If you have unconscious fears that are triggered by this election, you can use this situation to uncover and release those fears. The following three step process can be helpful in releasing your fears.
STEP1: UNDERSTAND AND RECOGNIZE YOUR FEARS.
Instead of projecting your fears onto your external situation, look within understand the nature of your fears. Watch your negative self-talk and become an astute observer of your own awareness.
STEP 2: QUESTION YOUR FEAR-BASED THINKING.
Question your fear-based thinking, release your fears and find your center. Ask yourself the question, "Is it true". Is it true that I'm powerless, is it true that I'm not safe, Is it true that I'm not adequate or whatever is going on in your head in relation to this election or to any situation. In releasing your fears, find your place of calm and peace inside yourself that can never be touched by the changes of fate and life circumstances. Find your center and breathe.
STEP 3: RESPOND IN A MORE ENLIGHTENED MANNER.
Re-engage in the difficult situation in a more enlightened manner. Don't let your fears run your life. You will never be happy with the outcome if you let your fears run your decision-making process. You don't have to let the ghosts of your past control your thoughts and your responses to your current challenges. You can become more present to the present moment and respond to the needs of the current situation. By doing so you will be more effective in impacting the situation and you will begin to find mental, emotional and spiritual freedom because you are responding freely based on your wisdom and intuition rather than letting your fears run your life.
I celebrate our presidential election as an opportunity for me to become more fully who I am by releasing the fears and emotional baggage that is holding me back in my life. I invite you to join me in this process.
